UK Fire and Rescue Service

1st choice for the UKFRS

We want our training to be the first choice for the UKFRS due to its quality, range and value for money. We know that our customers have priorities, needs and expectations and are often operating under considerable budgetary constraints. We are committed to providing the very highest quality training possible at the best possible price.

Engagement

The College has transformed its thinking and approach to customer engagement and is now is engaging with FRSs on multiple-year terms which offers medium-term planning advantages to both the College and its client base.

This medium-term engagement provides a greater opportunity for the College to plan training capabilities and resource use, resulting in efficiencies available to FRAs. This initiative provides significant benefits from the economies of scale and higher utilisation being passed onto the FRA who additionally can achieve revenue and capital savings.

Up to date courses for today’s firefighters

We continually review our courses and are improving and expanding our training programme. We know that today’s FRSs need a flexible approach to training for both full time and on-call staff. Time spent on the training ground means time away from the station, which can be difficult to arrange.

That’s why we have taken a blended learning approach to include e-learning and other methodologies to maximise learning time prior to attending a course and minimising time away from the station.

Local and regional training

We have introduced regional and locally based training – bringing our expertise and experience closer to our customers. This means that you have local access to the quality, standards and courses currently only available at the College at a venue nearer to your location.

For our customers, this means that we are able to offer the best of both worlds – excellent on-the-job training at our unique venue in Moreton-in-Marsh along with extensive theoretical or smaller scale practical training closer to home.

Great training from great trainers

We know that great training comes from great trainers. All our trainers are highly skilled and experienced firefighters themselves. We select the very best from the UKFRS to come and work with us at the College. They need to have the specific expertise, knowledge and ambition to aspire to be a Moreton trainer. We put all our trainers through the nationally recognised Training Accreditation Programme (TAP) to ensure that they really are the very best in their field.

We also ensure that our instructors are equipped with the latest materials and that our courses are clear, well-structured and engaging. All our courses are being aligned with National Occupational Standards (NOS) to ensure they really are the very best available.

The College aims to be the place where the most talented people in the UKFRS aspire to work and train.
