Course overview and learning outcomes

This qualification is nationally recognised and is aimed at experienced fire safety officers who are looking to develop their knowledge and skills for more complex premises and environments. The content is based on the National Occupational Standards and is intended to both support and formalise development in the Fire Safety Officer role for both Audit and Inspection and create a solid base for further learning.

All our fire safety courses are part of a development pathway where the candidate must complete each level of qualification before moving onto the next unless they can provide evidence of an equivalent qualification.

The course is delivered over one week (5 days total) and will provide the knowledge and understanding for the delegates to inspect complex premises and environments.

Qualifications are awarded through Skills for Justice (SFJ Awards).

This qualification consists of the following 5 mandatory units:

Who should attend and key benefits

The course is designed for individuals wishing to further develop their auditing skills and knowledge to cover complex premises and environments.

The key benefits are delivery flexibility and a reduced assessment burden. Our delivery model combines all knowledge elements and consists of pre-course learning followed by five days of tutor led input. There will then be a period back in service/employment where you will continue with your ‘on-the job’ training and mentoring. Candidates will then complete a final simulated practical assessment using 3D virtual gameplay scenarios designed to test practical audit skills.

Course entry criteria

Delegates should be in a fire safety role and should have a sound knowledge and experience of auditing within low/medium risk premises (minimum six months).

Also, delegates must have completed the SFJ Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (or equivalent) as a pre-requisite for attending this course.
