Course overview

This 5-week programme for new Airport Fire Service entrants provides immersive modular training, equipping participants with vital skills to become certified firefighters under CAP 699. The programme not only concentrates on imparting fundamental abilities but also emphasises the cultivation of self-discipline, confidence, resilience, and adaptability. These qualities serve as a solid foundation for participants as they embark on their initial journey toward a rewarding career in Aviation Fire and Rescue Services.

Programme delivery

Weeks 1-3 are delivered at FSC and week 4 is delivered at an operational Airport Fire Station. Learners are exposed to realistic and practical training scenarios in challenging and controlled conditions, in both daylight and darkness.

Finally, participants return to FSC to complete week 5, responding to a wide range of aviation incidents. These locations offer learners a highly immersive service environment experience.

This programme also trains and assesses learners as structural BA wearers before moving into the Aviation phase.
