Fire Safety Management and Fire Risk Assessment - 3 Day

Course overview and learning outcomes

The Regulatory Reform(Fire Safety)Order requires that almost all workplaces undertake a 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessment. This is to identify likely hazards and take steps to prevent fire in order to protect the safety of any relevant persons, and should a fire break out, ensure that effective protection measures are in place.

The 3 day course is intended to offer practical hands-on experience in this area and allows delegates to gain experience in undertaking fire risk assessments.

The course is assessed by way of a practical fire risk assessment activity, normally submitted post course.

Topics covered will include:

  • Legislative requirements governing the requirement for the FRA process and Fire Safety Management
  • Means of escape
  • Human behaviour
  • Principles of risk assessment and the practical process
  • Passive and active fire safety overview
  • Fire risk assessment – practical exercises
  • Course assessment

Learning outcomes:

  • Knowledge  of current fire safety legislation
  • A wide understanding of workplace fire safety issues
  • An understanding of the fire risk assessment process
  • The ability to apply the principles and methodology of fire risk assessment
