The aim of the course is to provide an opportunity for senior and aspiring managers, to develop the skills and competences to advance into the most senior roles in their organisations.
Delivery includes classroom based lectures from a wide range of UK and European civil response specialists, case studies and practical and simulation exercises; and outside visits to establishments and organisations who are influential in managing and maintaining the UK civil response.

This course is for senior officers who have been identified as likely to assume one of the principal managerial and command roles in their organisations in the forseeable future and who are likely to be operating at a level equivalent to the UK rank of Area Manager and at least Group Manager B.
Course entry criteria, delegates should have completed progression courses to the equivalent of the International Divisional Command Course and should have technical competence in firefighting science and operational command. An academic level equivalent to a first degree is desirable and fluency in spoken and written English is required.
The International Brigade Command Course focuses on the development of strategic managers in the fire and rescue community for senior command posts. This course has been recognised throughout the world as the benchmark for Chief Fire Officers of the future. It attracts a diverse range of potential Chief Officers from across the globe and as it is run at the Fire Service College, it will expose them to the highest operating and occupational standards that exist in the UK Fire and Rescue Service.
Delegates are assessed by undertaking assignments including essays, reports, presentations and a learning log.
