International Fire Fighting Recruits Development Programme

Course overview and learning outcomes

The International Firefighter Development programme provides a modularised Firefighter Foundation Programme, which will equip new entrants to the Fire and Rescue Service, Civil Defence or Oil and Gas Industry, with basic knowledge, skills and understanding to enable them to undergo further on-station 'acquisition and application' training and development.

Running through the International Firefighter Foundation Development Programme, is a strong element of self-learning, structured around the core topics. Learner self-study is supported through Instructor facilitation and this approach helps to develop a sense of ownership for the learning. A mixture of formative and summative assessments is used throughout the modules. During the formative assessment the instructor will use informal feedback, which enables staff and learners to identify areas of learner' strengths, weaknesses and developmental areas, and to devise support mechanisms as appropriate.

The International Firefighter Foundation Development Progamme can be delivered at the FSC on a residential basis or at any International Training Establishment.
