This course employs a blended learning approach over a 6 week period with 4.5 days spent on site at the FSC. The course is accredited to the Skills for Justice Award in Initial Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Service (QCF), and will equip delegates with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding required to qualify in Initial Incident Command prior to attaining full competence in their FRS.

The course develops and assesses the Incident Commanders knowledge and ability across an unrivalled range of realistic operational scenarios. The delegates will be formatively assessed in the Simulation Suite utilising the new innovative XVR technology in order to foster their development before being summatively assessed practically on the Incident Ground.
It is important to note that assessment on this course results in a straight Pass or Fail.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of the Skills for Justice Award in Initial Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Service. This is a nationally recognised qualification developed by firefighter subject matter experts at the request of CFOA through Skills for Justice, the Sector Skills Council for the fire sector. The course is underpinned by National Occupational Standard WM7, Lead and support people to resolve Operational incidents. The Fire Service College has developed a clear Learner Pathway for Incident Command levels 1-4.
Successful completion of this course will also see the delegates receive 35 Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours.
