With the release of the new Operational Guidance for Breathing Apparatus and in line with current updates to training and use of Breathing Apparatus, the FSC has updated the BA instructors course to encompass these modifications, continuing to meet the high level of learner requirements so that they can implement these changes at both Local and National levels. In order to ensure that our BAI course continues to meet learner requirements, a number of developments have now been incorporated, including extending the course to enable delivery of a more extensive and in-depth curriculum.

The FSC Breathing Apparatus Instructor Course is for personnel who need to design and deliver safe and effective breathing apparatus training. The course now incorporates the 'F&R Authority Operational Guidance; Breathing Apparatus- January 2014' and references changes in previous guidance where necessary. Topics will include:

This course is assessed against the learning outcomes using practical observation throughout the course and testing of the underpinning knowledge in the technical areas of BA equipment and procedures.
The learner portfolio will detail performance against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria, successful learners will receive the level 3 SFJ(A) qualification. Successful completion of this course will also result in the award of 67 Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours.
