How many items can I take out?
College staff can borrow up to 30 items at a time. Delegates can borrow up to 15 books.
Can I borrow books when the Library is unstaffed?
Yes – just fill in a self-issue slip for each item you are borrowing and place it in the tray by the Library exit barrier.
What are the loan periods?
Delegates must return all Library books at the end of their course, or within one month – whichever is sooner.
Can I return items when the Library is unstaffed?
Yes – place them in the secure return box by the Library exit barrier.
My item is late, will I be fined?
No, we do not charge fines for overdue Library loans, but if you lose one of our items we will charge for replacement (minimum charge £10).
How do I renew the items I have on loan from the Library?
If they have not been requested by another reader they can be renewed by bringing them in to the Library. College staff can also renew items by phone or email for the first two renewals, but after that if you need to keep the items any longer you will need to bring them in to the Library.
How do I keep up to date in my field?
There are a number of alerting services you may find useful. For example, legislation update email alerts are available from IHS Technical Indexes. Please contact the library staff for further information on keeping up to date in your field.
Can I connect my laptop to the network in the Library?
Yes, there is a wireless network in the Library.
Can I use a breakout room to study in?
The breakout rooms may be booked for groups by college staff. In addition, during periods when they are not booked up you are welcome to use them for private study.
