FSC Celebrating 10 Year Partnership with Nissan and Renault

The Fire Service College is delighted to be celebrating a fantastic 10-year partnership with Nissan & Renault in the UK. The leading EV manufacturer has provided electric vehicles and technical expertise to our learners across a range of courses and events since the launch of the ‘Leaf’ model a decade ago.

The last ten years have seen huge advances in vehicle design and with the global move towards vehicle electrification, emergency responders must maintain their awareness and understand the potential impact this will have on their ability to perform in a safe and patient-centered way. The relationship The Fire Service College enjoys with Nissan & Renault has proved vital in raising this awareness and has empowered literally hundreds of emergency service personnel from all agencies.

Ian Dunbar, Head of Curriculum for Fire Fighter Core Skills said ‘Working with a major motor manufacturer like Nissan &Renault is invaluable to The Fire Service College. With radical advances in vehicle design in recent years, we are reliant upon such positive and proactive relationships in order to maintain our own current understanding and apply what we learn right across our curriculum. Nissan &Renault have been kind enough to make vehicles and technical support available, so our learners receive first-hand information and are also able to discuss and contextualise any operational considerations. There is no doubt that such a collaboration makes them more effective in their role’

Tony Pryor from the Nissan and Renault Alliance said ‘Working with The Fire Service College has proved extremely rewarding for us as a motor manufacturer. Following the release of the Leaf, and ZOE plus other models across the range, it has become clear that emergency responders have a genuine interest and passion to understand the technology and how they can appropriately and safely deal with vehicles involved in collisions. We strive to make sure responders have all the knowledge to manage their role effectively and this partnership plays a very important part in helping us achieve this objective’.

Nissan will visit The Fire Service College on December 16th as part of our Road Traffic Collision Instructors (RTCi) Course.
