The College has played host to the Defence Security and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) – who are using our unique facilities to develop the next generation of detection systems which could help keep our troops and emergency services safe when encountering potentially hazardous scenes. The trials involved Police and Fire Services from across the UK, as well as commercial teams and academics, in scenarios using our indoor and outdoor areas.
Trials of drones and robots designed to examine for chemical agents and biological threats took place at the FSC in September; you can read more about this exciting project here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-tests-life-saving-chemical-detection-robots-and-drones
