Local Charity Support

Making a difference in the communities we serve

A caring College

Whether we’re taking part in fundraising events, offering our facilities to support a local cause, or contributing directly from our salaries to help people in need, giving to charity is integral to our role in the community.

Mess Club

Run by a committee of volunteers drawn from College staff, the Mess Club is the social and charitable arm of the College. It provides a social network for employees, delegates and the local community. Throughout the year the Mess Club holds a number of fundraising events in support of nominated charities. These events include formal functions, weekly quiz nights, tribute acts and an annual firework display.

Capita-wide charity support

Our parent company Capita plc runs an active company-wide charity support programme. From 2014 – 2017, Capita worked with The Prince’s Trust, in what proved to be a fantastic corporate charity partnership, raising over £853,000.

“We are delighted to have raised over £853k in our partnership with The Prince’s trust. Alongside the fantastic fundraising done by our employees across the organisation, we have supported the Trust in many other ways, using our breadth of skills and expertise to reach even more vulnerable young people.”

Julie Jones, Group corporate responsibility director, Capita

In 2016 Capita employees chose Alzheimer’s Society as the company’s latest charity partner. Capita began a new two year corporate charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society in spring 2017. Together we are uniting against dementia.

Key partnership objectives include:

  • Working to make 50% of our employee base Dementia Friends
  • Supporting innovation in dementia research and initiatives
  • Raising £500,000 over the course of the two year partnership
  • Becoming a dementia friendly business.

Supporting charities in other ways

Capita supports employees who take part in charitable activities by providing additional funding for the charity.  In addition Capita runs a central payroll giving scheme that provides a simple and efficient way for our people to give money to their chosen charities. Every employee is able to take one day a year as paid volunteering leave.
