Infrastructure Manager

 

About the role:

To ensure the efficient and effective daily management of all staff within area of responsibility, this to include the, Incident ground and training areas, also to ensure that all operational requirements are supported effectively and timely in all areas of the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Contribute to the overall Incident Ground and liaison with key group stakeholders in that respect.
  • Drive innovation, mindful of the future FRS marketplace, environmental concerns and local community impact.
  • Routine reporting of departmental progress, finances, issues and risks.  To include briefing FSC Senior Management  as required.
  • Negotiating best deals with contractors and suppliers in liaison with Capita Procurement where appropriate.
  • Ensuring Incident Ground and USAR meet Government Regulations, Building Regulations, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Standards.
  • Ensuring contractor management systems are robust, efficient and adhered to.
  • To ensure that all equipment testing requirements are satisfied for the Incident Ground rigs/venues and USAR.
  • Manage the readiness of elements of the Incident Ground and USAR under your remit as agreed with your line manager
  • Maintaining records of all tests and maintenance carried out on all equipment.
  • Support H & S investigations into all equipment failures.
  • Review and create Risk Assessments as appropriate.
  • Liaise with suppliers to maintain on time deliveries of all Incident Ground consumables.
  • Ensure effective planning of resources.
  • Conduct monthly audits of Incident Ground Rigs/Venues, maintain defects register and reporting.
  • Ensure that staff competencies are current.
  • Assist line manager with daily management issues/planning.
  • Deputise for the Operation Support Manager as required.
  • Deputise for the USAR Team Leader and Incident Ground Manager as required

Management Responsibilities

 

Manage Teams

  • Recruit, induct, train, and develop staff, identify, and nurture talent in line with Capita procedures and systems linking in with Group HR and using Workday.
  • Work with team members to ensure that they feel supported and engaged.  Ensure that staff understand the vision, values and strategic direction of the FSC and that staff are actively involved in the setting and achievement of business or team objectives.  Encourage innovation and cross functional working.

Manage Performance

  • Plan and manage resources to ensure business objectives are met in relevant business area. 
  • Contribute to the longer term FSC strategic business planning by bringing forward commercially sound ideas and proposals.

Manage Finance and Resources

  • Plan resources, costs and overheads in line with budget, bringing forward proposals as necessary, bring forward proposals to reduce costs and/or increase revenue.
  • Manage and monitor budgets, take action to deal with any variances. Manage budget effectively and in line with Capita procedures and ensure value for money.
  • Ensure staff are suitably trained in relevant Health and Safety within their role.
