Course overview

To successfully complete this course and earn your SFJ Level 7* Award, you’ll need to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to work as a Level 4** Incident Commander in the Fire and Rescue Services.

During your time on this course, you will have the opportunity to explore issues relevant to your strategic leadership role at local, regional and national levels, working with colleagues in similar positions to share learning, understanding and experiences.

Gain a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Incident Command. Be able to lead a strategic response to an incident within local, regional and national contexts. Be able to contribute to the debrief following the resolution of an incident.

  • Command and leadership skills within Incident Command. 
  • Technical issues being dealt with at tactical level.
  • Understand how to manage people involved in incidents within local, regional and national contexts.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required for this course, however a senior role should be held by the learner that requires strategic command or decision making responsibility. The Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command is recommended and a high standard of writing is beneficial.

Duration: 5 days (in-person).

Certification awarded

SFJ Level 7 Award in Strategic Command in Fire and Rescue Services.
