Where can I find IPDS?
Louise Foster | Wednesday, August 19, 2009
From 1 April 2009 Skills for Justice took on the role of
providing the support you need to operate the Integrated Personal
Development System. Skills for Justice is a Sector Skills
Council - one of 25 such bodies providing support for workforce
development for some 85% of employees in the UK. Skills for
Justice already work with the Police, the Prison Service, the
Probation Service and a number of other organisations across the
UK.
The IPDS documents that were available on this site have been
transferred to the Skills for Justice website www.skillsforjustice-ipds.com.
If you have the Fire Service College site saved as
a 'favourite' for IPDS you should change the link.
Assessment and Development Centre Tools are not yet available on
the Skills for Justice site so if you need these please contact
Sheila Ramsamy (
sheila.ramsamy@communities.gsi.gov.uk) and for the National
Firefighter Selection Test, please contact Christina Machado (Christina.Machado@communities.gsi.gov.uk)
Why change?
Skills Plus UK used to act as the Sector Skills Council for the
Fire and Rescue Sector but this remit ceased in March 2008 and new
arrangements have been put in place. It was agreed that
Skills for Justice would offer the best match for the FRS and this
was endorsed by the Local Government Association (LGA), the
Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) and the Department for
Communities and Local Government. This transfer is in
line with government policy on expanding the footprint of Sector
Skills Councils and incorporating parts of the economy which
currently do not have a home into an appropriate Sector Skills
Council.
What are the benefits?
Skills for Justice was licensed in April 2004 as the dedicated
Sector Skills Council for the Justice sector. They work in
partnership with UK employers and other key stakeholders across a
wide range of essential public services, delivered by the public,
private and voluntary sectors. They are committed to
developing skills for safer communities - to ensure that
individuals are equipped with the right skills, at the right
levels, to enable them to be productive, effective and
efficient.
National Firefighter Selection Tests
For 2009 / 2010, the Department for Communities and Local
Government will be providing support for National Firefighter
Selection Tests. This is an interim position for one year whilst
they agree with stakeholders a more permanent arrangement for
on-going support.
