National Skillsmark endorsement for Fire Service College
Juliet Basford | Thursday, May 26, 2011
The Fire Service College's Incident Command Foundation training
programme has been awarded the prestigious Skillsmark
endorsement.
Skillsmark, developed by Skills for Justice, is the recognised
quality mark for learning and development in the Justice and Fire
sector. Skillsmark endorsed programmes undergo a rigorous quality
assurance process to ensure learning programmes provide the
required skills and knowledge in line with employers' needs.
The College is committed to quality assurance and continuous
improvements as Caroline Wallace, Quality Assurance Manager at the
Fire Service College, explains: "Going through the endorsement
process for us was a self assessment approach that made us look and
think twice and consider whether there is a better way of doing
things. There were some tweaks made in the course delivery,
but it was a continuous improvement cycle that a fresh pair or eyes
can always bring. For any organisation, that is a healthy
approach".
Kim Robinson, Chief Executive at the Fire Service College, said
"Skillsmark endorsement of our Incident Command Foundation course
is a great achievement for the College and demonstrates our
professional approach to learning and development, evidenced
through our flexible approach to training that is both fit for
purpose and designed with employers' needs in mind".
The Fire Service College achieved Skillsmark recognition in May
2010, awarded to learning providers who are recognised as providing
high quality training relevant to the Justice and Fire sector.
