Launch of new online network for Fire and Rescue Service training managers
Juliet Basford | Thursday, December 17, 2009
A new online facility that will help Fire and Rescue Services
share information and best practice about training, and learning
and development, has just been launched by the Fire Service
College.
The new online network will enhance communication between Fire
and Rescue Services and the College, providing a dedicated and
secure environment for knowledge development, collective learning
and discussion forums, and it will promote the sharing of best
practices within the field of learning & development.
The new network, called the UK FRS Learning & Development
Community of Practice, is hosted and supported by the Fire Service
College, through its online learning management system,
FireLearn.
150 representatives from UK Fire and Rescue Services will be
provided with an individual log-in to allow secure access to the
site, which will allow users to:
- Quickly and easily communicate with Learning & Development
colleagues and the Fire Service College, through email, and online
discussion forums
- Circulate updates, share & manage knowledge
- Publish events of interest in the online calendar
facility.
- Provide a secure platform for the storage of and access to key
documentation.
- View the College's course pricing, booking and availability
information.
Sally Sheen, Director of Training Delivery, and Head of UKFRS
sales for the Fire Service College, said:
"We pride ourselves on our role at the heart of the UK Fire and
Rescue Service. This new online community of practice is an example
of how we are always looking to further develop the ways that we
can support fire and rescue services. It will also extend the
quality of the customer care we are able to provide and enhances
our ability to respond to our customers' needs and requirements
more effectively."
