The Black Museum website, hosted by East Sussex Fire &
Rescue Service, highlights the causes, effects and learning from
real fires and has been launched in a bid to more effectively
communicate safety messages to educate, inform and ultimately
change perceptions and behaviour.
The site is being contributed to and supported by a number
of other Fire & Rescue Services and contains case
histories from real fires that provide details of the cause and
circumstances of the fire.
The long-term aim of the website is to build up a comprehensive
range of images and stories to provide a 'real fire library' from
which all Fire & Rescue Services and the wider fire sector
can benefit.
This website has been endorsed and highlighted as notable
practice by the Chief Fire Officers Association and the Electrical
Safety Council has awarded a grant to promote the website.
